It took two years to have an athlete appear on the front cover of an NBA game, it's a positive step towards representation. NBA 2K20 was 2K's first 2K video game featuring WNBA players and teams. The WNBA version of MyPlayer was also introduced. MyPlayer career mode was also introduced in NBA 2K21. Candace Parker is the first woman to cover the front cover of the NBA2K video game. Candace Parker is one of the most iconic female basketball players around the globe and has been recognized. The cover of the 2022 edition of the game will be announced by the 2K videogame company.

Parker is just 35 years old at the time of her career. She has been recognized as a WNBA MVP, six-time All-Star also a WNBA Finals MVP champion, and a two-time Olympic gold medalist. She has also created cover art with Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks. They made a cover to celebrate the 75th anniversary along with NBA legends Dirk Nowitzki, Kareem AbdulJabbar and Kevin Durant.
